The Boys Are Back in Town: Live at the Sydney Opera House 1978 / Songs For While I’m Away is released on 24 June via Mercury Studios. ![]() The CD includes the 13-tracks from the concert in the order they were played. In other words, both versions have the Thin Lizzy Sydney Opera House concert on DVD. The only difference is the first has the Songs For While I’m Away on blu-ray, while the second includes that film on DVD. There’s two versions of this package: A blu-ray, DVD and CD set, or a two-DVD set with CD. Apparently, the visuals of these newly-found performances don’t match the main concert, so you can choose to watch separately or view in sequence. Although this has been out before on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD this new edition features remixed audio, restored visuals, and includes five additional performances from the concert that have never been officially available. The 1978 concert in Australia features an array of fan favourites including ‘Jailbreak’, ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’, ‘Bad Reputation’ & more. Scott Gorham recorded most of the guitars and he really gets to shine here with one of the best drummers ever, Mr. Essential listening.Ī versatile classic Thin Lizzy album with Phil Lynott's melodic vocal style, great lyrics and stable bass playing. Lynott's voice, as always, is a pleasure to hear. The songs, with their pounding rhythms and soulful, emotive vocals have a life of their own. Recommended Listening.Ĭlassic album, the musicianship throughout is sublime. Again, Lizzy delivers a solid effort of rockers & ballads. Gorham does fullfill most guitar duties on the album quite well. Robertson was notably absent on most of this session though he was still a member of the band. Opium Trail and Southbound are two of my all time fav tracks by this classic band! Favorites are the title track, "Dancing in the Moonlight," "Opium Trail," the underrated "Dear Lord".oh heck, the whole disc is good. Of course, much of this is helped by Phil Lynott's soulful vocals and poetic lyrics. Every song possessing it's own emotion and splendor. Guitarist Scott Gorham handled all guitar duties on this one and did so in a fine manner as "Bad Reputation" is another brilliant, 100% filler-free Thin Lizzy album. 9/10Īgreed! The musicianship was inserted into this one, one fine thread at a time. They show their versatility with the motown-ish "Dancing In The Moonlight" while still turning out great hard rock as "Bad Reputation" and "Opium Trail". Long as they are at least 4 songs in length.Įxisting comments about this CD From: Big Papa KĪnother excellent album.
